व्रत करने वाले जल में खड़े होकर डालों को उठाकर डूबते सूर्य को अर्घ्य देते हैं, सूर्यास्त के पश्चात व्रती पूरी रात साधना करते हैं , कुछ घर भी वापस आ जाते हैं ,रात्रि जागरण होता है , सप्तमी के दिन ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में पुन: बाँस के डालों में पकवान, नारियल, केला, मिठाई लेकर नदी तट पर व्रती सपरिवार जाते हैं , जहाँ उगते सूर्य को अर्घ्य देते हैं.
