Welcome to BalliaLiVE.in

न टीवी, न अखबार… बस खांटी समाचार

Ballia LiVE began its journey in September 2012 as a Facebook page, with a simple purpose: to bring the news of Ballia closer to its people.

From the very beginning, Ballia LiVE has focused on hyperlocal journalism. News from the streets, lanes, neighbourhoods, villages and towns of the district has always been at the heart of our coverage. Even the smallest local development can matter when it affects the lives of people.

Over time, Ballia LiVE expanded its presence to BalliaLive.in, continuing to publish news from across Ballia while also bringing readers important developments from neighbouring districts and the wider region.

What started as a Facebook page in September 2012 has continued to grow and evolve with the changing media landscape. For more than a decade, Ballia LiVE has remained committed to reporting stories from the ground and making local voices heard.

Our focus remains simple: credible, relevant and ground-level news that matters to the people of Ballia and the region.

From the neighbourhood to the national stage, Ballia Live continues its journey with the same commitment with which it began in 2012.

About Mriegank Shekhar

Mriegank Shekhar has, yet, opted for no other profession except journalism.

His career in journalism spans decades, across print, television and digital media, in both English and Hindi, including a long stint with a leading Indian media group. He has worked through the many changes that journalism has seen, from the traditional newsroom to television and, eventually, the digital world.

For the past 12 years, his principal work has been in political analysis and opinion writing, while working with a leading media group. Over this period, he has written extensively on politics, public affairs and the issues shaping contemporary India.

Away from the newsroom, Shekhar has a long-standing interest in food, innovation and experimentation. He has created 500-plus original and innovative dishes, exploring Indian food through new combinations, formats and ideas. A substantial part of this work has been around litti chokha, which he has explored in a wide variety of forms and interpretations.

He is equally interested in new ideas, new ways of thinking and technology, particularly artificial intelligence. Since AI began opening up new possibilities for creative work, he has been experimenting with it extensively, exploring its applications in journalism, storytelling, visual content, food and other creative pursuits.

These interests may seem to belong to different worlds, but for Shekhar they are connected by a common instinct: curiosity, experimentation and the desire to see what a new idea can become.

Now, that experience, along with his interest in ideas, innovation, technology, food and storytelling, is becoming part of the next chapter of Ballia LIVE.

Founded in Ballia in 2012, Ballia LIVE has spent the past 14 years reporting from the ground and telling stories from the region. As the platform moves into its next phase, Shekhar’s experience across different forms of journalism and his wider creative interests will increasingly find expression in the way Ballia LIVE reports, tells stories and explores new formats.
